Rohde & Schwarz has enhanced its R&S QAR quality automotive radome tester, a tailored solution for radar integration testing to analyze and evaluate the radar compatibility of radomes and bumpers. With the new R&S QAR-K50 single-cluster measurement software, OEMs and tier 1 suppliers are able to achieve measurement results very close to those obtained with a vector network analyzer (VNA) and a quasi-optical (QO) setup, but in a nondestructive and 2-dimensional way. In addition, users benefit from the intuitive R&S QAR operating concept.

Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) is the use case of 5G NR which supports the ever-increasing end user data rate and system capacity, as mobile devices integrate more and more internet-based services and applications. At MWC21, T&M specialists Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate a 5G NR eMBB end-to-end test scenario in 5G SA mode (standalone 5G) exceeding for the first time a high-speed data throughput of 7.5 Gbps. The demonstration paves the way for upcoming data rates up to 10 Gbps. This high throughput rate means mobile subscribers will soon benefit from 4K video streams or augmented reality.

Rohde & Schwarz presents an innovative signal generation and analysis solution for measurements in the D band that will significantly simplify early next generation mobile communications research. The new R&S FE170 frontend extensions are easy to mount to and configure with the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer. The extensions will allow the two high-end test instruments to cover frequency ranges between 110 GHz and 170 GHz – key spectrum for beyond 5G, for 6G technology and for future automotive radar applications.

With the R&S ATS1800M, Rohde & Schwarz introduces an extension to the well-established R&S ATS1800C, a compact antenna test range (CATR) based 5G NR mmWave test chamber for over-the-air (OTA) testing. By adding two side chambers, the existing test chamber turns into the only single-system solution that enables full 3GPP-specified conformance testing of a 5G NR mmWave device for radio resource management (RRM), including multiple angles of arrival (AoA).

Together with HEAD acoustics, Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified voice services over 5G NR (VoNR). The test solution employs the latest generation of the R&S CMX500 wideband radio communication tester, combined with the labCORE hardware platform from HEAD acoustics and their ACQUA measurement and analysis software. This setup allows simulation of a voice connection in both 5G (VoNR) and 4G (VoLTE) networks. This enables manufacturers of 5G capable telecommunications devices to test the voice quality of their devices at an early stage before market introduction. The solution was presented at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai in February 2021 for the first time.
