Telecommunication networks in Germany consume electrical energy of multiple TWh per year. Different parts of the entire network contribute different to the overall consumption and the forecast shows an increase for wireless technologies as well as a decrease for land line access.
On the other hand, to assess the technologies all emission scopes and the entire live cycle must be discussed. Finally different measures will be discussed to analyze and to reduce energy consumption.
