Nokia today announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading network measurement technology provider, Rohde & Schwarz, to embed QualiPoc 4.9G/LTE and 5G network measurement capabilities into the Nokia Drone Networks platform. The Global Certification Forum (GCF) has approved the first two radio ressource management (RRM) conformance test cases for 5G FR2 frequencies, implemented on the R&S TS-RRM-NR 5G RRM conformance test system from Rohde & Schwarz. The test cases have been validated in seven FR2 and LTE band combinations. With this success, Rohde & Schwarz is leading the way in validated test cases for the technically challenging FR2 mmWave frequency bands.

The R&S TS-RRM-NR 5G conformance test system from Rohde & Schwarz is the first test platform to achieve test platform approval criteria (TPAC) from the GCF certification organization for 5G radio resource management (RRM) at FR2 frequencies. As a consequence, the first RRM conformance FR2 work items have reached “active” status, making them mandatory for mobile device certification. RRM FR2 test cases with one and two angles of arrival (1xAoA and 2xAoA) have been validated in multiple FR2 EN-DC band combinations.

In 2019, Rohde & Schwarz introduced the Interactivity Test to help mobile network operators meet the needs of real-time and interactive applications in 5G networks. ITU has recently approved the methodology as standardized test procedure, defined in Recommendation ITU-T G.1051.

Depending on the use cases, one will select architecture models ranging from fully isolated networks on one side to a private slice in a public network, with several hybrid and EDGE intermediate options.
