Rohde & Schwarz first to deliver test sequences to fulfill requirements of E112 emergency caller location

A new regulation requires all smartphones sold in the European Union from March 2022 onwards to support caller location for 112 emergency calls. To ensure this feature, the devices must be compliant with several positioning systems as outlined by the European Commission. Rohde & Schwarz announces an extension to its R&S TS-LBS location based services test system, making it the first test solution available to perform the necessary LBS compliance tests. Certification service provider CETECOM has already started first E112 testing using these test sequences

Rohde & Schwarz supports China Mobile with 5G VoNR audio quality test

As of October 1, 2021, China Mobile requires all 5G enabled mobile phones to support voice services over 5G NR (VoNR). Accordingly, the network operator has announced corresponding audio quality test cases. China Mobile relies on the R&S CMX500 radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz for 5G VoNR test verification, and the first acceptance tests have already been performed.

CAICT selected R&S CMX500 OBT to enable SPEAG DASY8 system for SAR and HAC tests of 5G NR devices

The China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL) Terminal labs at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) successfully conducted specific absorption rate and hearing aid compatibility testing for 5G new radio mobile devices. The lab upgraded their DASY8 high-precision electromagnetic near-field scanning platform from SPEAG, the leading provider of dosimetric test systems, with the R&S CMX500 OBT 5G one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. SPEAG and Rohde & Schwarz have been long-term partners with CAICT and have supported and equipped CTTL with testing solutions and provided support.

R&S® Trusted Drive is an external encrypted hard disk that corresponds, according to the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), to the current state of technology. R&S®Trusted Drive enables the GDPR compliant data storage, data retention and secure transport of classified data up to the classification level of VS-NfD (German public sector classification), RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED and NATO RESTRICTED for authorities and companies. In addition to smart cards, existing PKI-based company ID-, Service- and Troop ID Cards can be used for authentication.

New Rohde & Schwarz test system for automotive radar sensors electronically simulates even laterally moving objects

The new R&S RTS radar test system from Rohde & Schwarz simulates driving scenarios for testing radar based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and radar sensors used in autonomously driving cars (AD) entirely over the air. The test solution consists of the new R&S AREG800A automotive radar echo generator as a backend and the R&S QAT100 antenna array as a frontend. Laterally moving objects, i.e. objects approaching from the side, are currently simulated by mechanically moving antennas. The R&S RTS replaces the mechanical movement by electronically switching individual antennas in the frontend on and off. Even objects moving laterally to the car at very high speed can be simulated reliably and reproducibly. The R&S RTS is able to simulate the radial velocity (Doppler shift) and the size (radar cross section) of objects at user configurable – including very small – ranges. Countless objects can be represented by cascading multiple R&S AREG800A backends. The R&S RTS moves tests currently performed on the road to the lab. This allows early error detection and a significant reduction in costs.
